Periodontology or Periodontics (from Greek peri “around”; and odons “tooth”) is the specialty of dentistry that studies supporting structures of teeth, diseases, and conditions that affect them. The supporting tissues are known as the periodontium, which includes the gingiva (gums), alveolar bone, cementum, and the periodontal ligament. A professional who practices this specialty field of dentistry is known as a periodontist.
About the Department

Preclinical lectures and seminars, laboratory exercises, and clinical assignments have been developed to provide training in the variety of procedures delegated to the dentist within the dental practice setting. These experiences are sequenced in an organized manner that provides for continual growth and competency in performance of all traditional and expanded-function procedures. Courses that encourage analytical thinking and problem-solving techniques that enhance the ability to evaluate the latest in research are important adjuncts to clinical training.
The department boasts of a total area of around 3076 sq feet which includes well-equipped undergraduate clinic, spacious post graduate clinic with electronic chairs and state of art equipments in the clinics including lasers.
The Treatment procedures routinely done by the doctors in the department, either conventionally or laser assisted include;
